# FX

> FX converts one fiat currency to another, such as NGN to USD or GBP to EUR. Request a quote, execute it, then track the transaction to completion.

FX converts one fiat currency to another, such as NGN to USD or GBP to EUR. Both sides of the conversion must be fiat currencies. If one side is a digital currency such as USDC, see [Ramps](/transactions/ramps).

## API flow

  <Step title="Get a quote">
    Describe the source and destination bank accounts, the currency pair, and exactly one amount. Save the `quoteId` of the quote you choose. See [Get Quote](/transactions/fx/get-quote).

  <Step title="Execute the quote">
    Create a transaction from the `quoteId`. See [Execute Quote](/transactions/fx/execute-quote).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Approve the transaction">
    The new transaction is `PENDING` until approved. [Get the approval message](/approvals/get-approval-message), sign it, and [submit the approval](/approvals/submit-approval-action). The SDK's `createTransactionFromIntent()` does this for you. See [Approvals](/approvals/overview).

  <Step title="Track the transaction">
    Use [Retrieve Transaction](/transactions/retrieve-transaction) or [webhooks](/api-basics/webhooks) to track it until it reaches `COMPLETED`, `FAILED`, or `DECLINED`.
